And then there were four. Sunday afternoon will see the final four teams left in the Mayo GAA Intermediate Championship battle it out for a spot in the final of this year's competition in an exciting double header in MacHale Park.

The main focus of attention in the Mayo Senior Football Championship was in group four on Saturday evening. Both Breaffy and Ballintubber went into the final group game level on points after their draw in Clogher in the previous round.

Four games spread across three venues will determine the future of eight sides all looking to be the one to claim the Mayo Intermediate Championship and book their place with the big boys in the senior event next summer. The last few games that had to be tidied up in the group stages took place last weekend and Kiltimagh, Westport, Belmullet, and Islandeady topped their groups, with Moy Davitts, Burrishoole, The Neale, and Shrule Glenncorrib joining them at the quarter final stage as runners up.

Tomorrow afternoon the Mayo junior footballers go looking to book their place in the All Ireland Junior Football Championship final when they take on Leinster champions Wexford in O'Connor Park in Tullamore. Sean McLoughlin has guided his side to wins over Sligo and Galway to claim the Connacht crown and now the the Model men are in his sides sights for a shot a glory in the All Ireland final.

In an often forgotten grade, Mayo are looking to pick up their second Connacht title in a row on Sunday in Pairc Seán Mac Diarmada, the ground named after the Leitrim native and Irish revolutionary who was executed 100 years and eight days ago for his part in the Easter Rising.
